A Letter from Our President
Fellow Platte Valley Pullers,
I know, I know, you are saying "what, a second letter during the year?", yes your eyes aren't deceiving you. We have some new business that has arisen that affects every member of the club.
As of next season or the end of this year we will no longer have the services of Greg Lussetto for our pulling sled. This does indeed throw a wrench in our monkey business.
Greg has decide that he needs to slow down a bit and be home with his family more. I for one understand, what we don't see is the time he puts in on the sled to be ready for the next pull. As we all know Greg has done an outstanding job for us over the years. I do commend him for that. I also wish him the best. Thanks Greg !!
I want to call a brief meeting at the Hershey pull on August 23 so we can have a SHORT discussion on what to do for next year. So if you can, please come to the pull. This is usually the largest pull of the year, so I hope more people will show. Please pass the word around.
Thanks, your President
Brian Anderson
Welcome to another new pulling season,
First off, I want to thank everyone that came to the annual meeting
in Ogallala. We had a full house! I also want to thank Valentino’s
for hosting us again.
We had several first time attendees, which was really good to see.
I hope we see more in the coming years.
We also have insurance again this year. It will be paid for before
the season starts, as we had enough money in our account to do this.
Our first and newest pull will be at Broken Bow on the 15th
& 16th of February on the Custer Co. Fairgrounds. Please
show your support. Otherwise we have 24 total pulls on the schedule this
year. Some do not have a set date, please watch the website or listen for
announcements for any changes.
And lastly, I was approached by several of the past winners of the
Ole Olson memorial Puller of the Year trophy. Their concern was that
the selection of the winner wasn't going in the correct direction. In
the past the selection was left up to the officers. Their solution was
to form a committee of the past winners to select the new winner. Having
been in the position of selecting a winner in the past, I can tell you
that it's pretty tough. So I told them that I thought that letting the
previous winners do the nominating and selecting of the next puller of
the year was a good idea.
We also plan to have a list (and maybe pictures?) of the previous
pullers of the year displayed on the website.
Hope to see you during the pulling season.
Your President,
Brian Anderson
